About the Destination

The Magical White Salt Desert

The White Rann of Kutch — also called the Safed Rann or Great Rann of Kutch — is a vast salt marsh stretching across thousands of square kilometres in western Gujarat. During the dry winter months, the entire landscape turns dazzling white as snow, creating one of the most surreal natural wonders in India.

Located near Dhordo village (recognized as UNWTO's Best Tourism Village 2023), the White Rann is the heart of the famous Rann Utsav festival. Travellers from around the world come here to witness magical sunsets, full-moon nights, vibrant Kutchi culture, traditional art, adventure activities, and authentic local cuisine.

The Rann lies close to the India-Pakistan border, so a permit is required for entry. The viewpoint is open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with extended hours till midnight on full-moon nights during the festival season — making it one of the most unique experiences you'll ever have.
